Pregnancy care is often reduced to ultrasound dates and reports. But good antenatal care is much broader. It includes nutrition, maternal health assessment, fetal assessment, preventive care, management of common pregnancy symptoms, and helping the mother move safely toward birth and postpartum recovery. WHO describes antenatal care as part of creating a positive pregnancy experience, not just detecting risk.
