Many women are told: “Your periods will eventually become regular.” “Acne is normal.” “Just lose some weight.” “Facial hair runs in families.” But when several symptoms occur together, they may deserve a proper medical evaluation. Possible signs associated with PCOS can include: • irregular, delayed or absent periods • persistent acne • increased facial or body hair • thinning hair on the scalp • difficulty conceiving • unexplained weight changes • darkened or thickened skin around the neck, underarms or other folds • difficulty managing blood sugar Having one of these symptoms does not automatically mean that you have PCOS.
